Common Washer Issues We Fix
Don't see your issue listed? Call us — we diagnose all makes and models.
Washer Not Draining
One of the most common washing machine repair calls we get is a washer that finishes a cycle with standing water still in the drum. A kinked or clogged drain hose is often the simplest cause and the first thing worth checking, since a hose that's pinched behind the machine can block water from leaving the tub.
If the hose is clear, the drain pump itself may not be circulating water out fast enough, or a small item of clothing or debris may be caught in it. On some models, an accessible filter traps debris before it reaches the pump, and a clogged filter can produce the same standing-water symptom. In other cases, the control board isn't triggering the drain phase of the cycle correctly, which can look like a drainage problem even though the pump itself is fine. If you suspect the pump specifically, see our Washer Drain Pump Repair page.
Why won't my washer drain?
A clogged hose, a struggling drain pump, a blocked filter, or a control-cycle issue can all leave standing water in the tub. We check each of these during diagnosis to confirm the cause.
Washer Not Spinning
A washer that agitates or fills normally but won't spin — or spins only briefly before stopping — often comes down to one of a few systems. An unbalanced load is the simplest cause and can trigger a safety sensor that stops the spin cycle before it starts; redistributing a lopsided load sometimes resolves it immediately.
If the lid or door isn't locking properly, most washers won't spin at all as a safety measure, so a faulty lid switch or door lock is worth ruling out. Beyond that, spinning issues can point toward the drive system — the belt, motor coupling, or clutch that transfers power to the drum — or a control board that isn't sending the correct signal to start the spin phase. A proper diagnosis pinpoints which of these is actually responsible before recommending a repair.
Why won't my washer spin?
An unbalanced load, a lid or door lock issue, a drive-system problem, or a control board fault can all prevent a washer from spinning. We diagnose the exact cause before recommending a repair.
